Makers Pavilion

Art, Craft & Cookery at the Royal Melbourne Show

Since 2016 I have been lucky enough to work for the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria as the Event Coordinator for the Royal Melbourne Show’s Art, Craft and Cookery Competition and Makers Pavilion.

This heritage competition attracts over 4000 entries each year and the Royal Melbourne Show runs over 11 days with 450,000 visitors and is the largest event in the Victorian calendar. My role requires management of event contractors, 80 judges and stewards, installation staff a casual workforce, artists, demonstrators and workshop facilitators.

I develop and manage public programming which includes a workshop space, demonstration space and staging area, commissioning artists to create site specific works plus a newly minted artist in residence program, manage social media across various platforms and maintain and develop relationships with sponsors and coordinate the competition and installation of this much loved component of the Show.
